Norton Motorcycles is set to launch in India later this year, and the new FTA deal has touted the bike will be priced reasonably.
Norton Motorcycles, the iconic British brand owned by India’s TVS Motor Company, was showcased to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his UK counterpart, Keir Starmer, during the formal signing of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The agreement is expected to significantly boost trade between the two nations and offer considerable benefits to the automotive sector, especially for premium imports like Norton.
As part of the FTA, India will now levy a reduced import duty of 10% on British cars and motorcycles, a sharp cut from the earlier rate of 110%. This development is poised to make several high-end vehicles from the UK, including Norton bikes, more competitively priced in the Indian market.

Norton Motorcycles is expected to officially enter the Indian market later this year, with the launch of its first new model since the TVS acquisition scheduled for November 4. The company is also set to unveil a new sub-500cc platform tailored for the Indian and global markets. This platform will underpin six upcoming models, which will be developed and manufactured by TVS Motor Company in India.
High-capacity models such as the Norton V4SV, V4CR, and Commando will continue to be manufactured in the UK at the company’s Solihull facility. These motorcycles will be imported as Completely Built Units (CBUs), and with the new lower tariffs, are expected to be significantly more affordable than before.

During the FTA signing ceremony, Prime Ministers Modi and Starmer, along with TVS Motor Company Managing Director and CEO Sudarshan Venu, were seen inspecting Norton’s current motorcycle lineup.
Speaking on the occasion, Venu said, “The signing of the India-UK Free Trade Agreement is a pivotal moment—it opens new frontiers for Indian companies to take ‘Make in India’ to the world. We are particularly excited about the launch of new Norton vehicles this year, which will benefit from the strengthening of trade links between India and the UK.”
TVS has been closely involved in the revival and product development of the Norton brand. Sudarshan Venu was recently seen testing a prototype of an upcoming Norton V4 motorcycle, which is expected to continue using the brand’s 1,200cc 72-degree V4 engine. The new model is likely to feature updated components from global suppliers such as Brembo and Showa.
Norton has also been sharing teaser images of its upcoming motorcycles, with the latest hinting at the design of the front fairing.
The India-UK Free Trade Agreement aims to double bilateral trade to $120 billion by 2030, with the automotive sector expected to be among the biggest beneficiaries.
