Operating in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru, Uber Black comprises high-quality vehicles with top-rated drivers.

Ride-sharing platform Uber on Wednesday announced an expansion of its premium mobility offering -- Uber Black -- by accelerating growth of its fleet to double the current size this year. The company will refocus on delivering high-quality, reliable experiences for riders who "value comfort and premium service standards". Uber is doubling down on the premium mobility segment, the firm said.

Built as business class of back seats, Uber Black service is also being offered through special Uber Black Zones at airports that offer dedicated, premium pickup areas for luxury rides, at Bengaluru Airport (BLR) (Terminals 1 & 2) and Mumbai Airport (CSMIA) (Terminal 2, P6).

“We’re witnessing strong demand for premium mobility in India, driven by riders who value comfort and elevated service standards. Our focus is on continuing to raise the bar on quality and service, while building a platform that delivers value for riders, drivers and fleet partners over the long term," Prabhjeet Singh, President, Uber India and South Asia, said in a statement.

For expansion of the services, Uber announced a Series A investment in Carrum -- a fleet management company backed by the CarDekho Group. Carrum has been a fleet partner for Uber and has been providing high-quality vehicles and dependable service on the platform.

It is pertinent to note that Uber has recently rolled out the Reserve feature on Uber Black in Delhi, letting riders book premium rides in advance. The new feature will allow riders to pre-book their rides from 2 hours to up to 90 days in advance, adding an additional layer of certainty when they want to ride Uber Black.
