Chief executive Dara Khosrowshahi revealed the plan on X following a meeting with Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad.
Ride-hailing platform Uber is to establish its first data centre in India in partnership with the Adani Group, in a move that signals a significant deepening of the ride-hailing giant's technology commitment to the country.
Chief executive Dara Khosrowshahi revealed the plan on X following a meeting with Adani Group chairman Gautam Adani in Ahmedabad, where the two sides discussed building on their existing commercial relationship.
"As India fast emerges as a leading innovation hub for Uber, we are setting up our first data center in the country with the Adani Group to test and deploy our tech," Khosrowshahi wrote, adding that the facility would be ready later this year and would serve as a platform to "build at scale -- from India, for the world."
The announcement ties into a broader data centre project already under way at Adani Enterprises. In January 2026, the conglomerate said it would invest more than ₹5,000 crore over five to seven years in a 100-megawatt facility powered entirely by renewable energy. The project is expected to create around 600 direct and indirect jobs, and Adani Enterprises has said it intends to work alongside local small businesses and start-ups to develop a domestically competitive supply chain for the initiative.
For Uber, the India data centre represents a strategic shift -- moving meaningful portions of its technology development and deployment capability into a market it increasingly views as central to its global ambitions rather than simply a large customer base to be served from elsewhere.
