Electric motorcycle manufacturer Ultraviolette and charging network operator Bolt.Earth have together rolled out over 130 Type-6 DC fast chargers across India, more than twice the 50-unit goal the two companies had set when they announced their collaboration in March 2026. An additional 200 units are expected to go online within two months, as part of what both companies are calling a coordinated effort to establish standardised fast-charging infrastructure for electric two-wheelers.
The chargers are live across seven states, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and West Bengal, across major cities, highway corridors, and areas identified as emerging EV markets.
The units support Ultraviolette's X-47 and F77 motorcycle models and are accessible via both companies' apps, offering real-time charger discovery, session tracking, and digital payment options.
The network operates on an interoperable model, allowing riders to locate and use chargers through either the Ultraviolette or Bolt.Earth platform without needing separate systems. Interoperability is gaining traction in India's EV space, where inconsistent standards, connectors, and platforms have long been flagged as a deterrent for potential electric vehicle buyers.
The expansion comes as India's electric two-wheeler market has seen sustained growth over the past two years, with new manufacturers entering the segment and monthly registration figures on the rise.
Policymakers have also pushed to reduce dependence on imported crude oil amid global supply-driven price swings. Ultraviolette Co-founder and CTO Niraj Rajmohan tied the charging rollout to that broader national priority. "Recent crude-linked volatility has reinforced the need for more resilient, electricity-led mobility infrastructure," he said in a statement.
The deployment covers both fresh installations and upgrades to existing Bolt.Earth charging points to ensure compatibility with Ultraviolette motorcycles. The expanded network aims to address a longstanding concern among riders: the availability of charging options on longer routes. Bolt.Earth
Founder Mohit Yadav said the company intends to install 10,000 Type-6 fast chargers over the next two years as part of a broader plan to build one of the country's largest dedicated fast-charging networks for electric two-wheelers.
Type-6 is a DC fast-charging standard that delivers significantly higher power than the AC chargers that currently dominate India's public charging infrastructure. While AC chargers can take several hours to charge an electric two-wheeler, DC fast chargers cut that time considerably, a distinction that has been a practical obstacle for riders considering electric vehicles for intercity use.
