As part of the opening phase, a number of Bolt.Earth chargers have been installed at key sites identified by Ultraviolette.
Electric two-wheeler maker Ultraviolette Automotive on Tuesday joined hands with Bolt.Earth to speed up the deployment of a Type-6 DC Charging network across India. Type-6 is the country's nationally recognised standard for light electric vehicle DC charging, developed specifically to meet the needs of two- and three-wheeler EVs. Formally published by the Bureau of Indian Standards as IS 17017 (Part 2/Section 6), the standard establishes a shared, interoperable charging architecture for light EVs. It has also been codified internationally as IEC 62196-6 and taken up in other markets, reflecting its potential as a scalable format for the next wave of electric mobility.
Built with light EV applications firmly in mind, Type-6 covers a broad range of vehicles -- from e-bikes, mopeds, scooters and motorcycles through to delivery vehicles, tricycles, e-freight carriers, e-rickshaws, and electric all-terrain vehicles.
Through this tie-up, Ultraviolette advances the shift towards interoperable fast-charging infrastructure by widening access to public Type-6 charging points across the country. Notably, Ultraviolette's vehicles are already built to the Type-6 standard.
As part of the opening phase, a number of Bolt.Earth chargers have been installed at key sites identified by Ultraviolette, with public charging now live across Kerala, Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka, Delhi, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu. The network is set to grow to fifty upgraded stations within the next two months. With Type-6 chargers already in place across India, Bolt.Earth ranks among the country's largest EV charging networks, built around interoperability at scale. All newly installed Bolt.Earth DC chargers will be fully compatible with Ultraviolette's entire lineup, meaning current and future models can tap into the expanding Type-6 ecosystem without any hardware changes.
Niraj Rajmohan, Co-founder & CTO, Ultraviolette, said in a statement: "Ultraviolette vehicles already adopt the Type-6 interface, and this collaboration expands real-world charging access on a nationally recognized standard. As public charging infrastructure evolves, interoperability will be critical to accelerating EV adoption, improving rider confidence, and enabling the next stage of growth for electric mobility in India."
The charging technology underpinning this partnership runs on 3kW DC Charging, engineered for both efficiency and safety.
In the months ahead, Bolt.Earth plans to broaden charging options for LEVDC Type-6 compatible two- and three-wheelers with the introduction of 6kW and 12kW Blaze DC, aimed at delivering reliable fast-charging across urban and high-density routes alike.
"With Blaze DC, we've integrated the Type 6 connector to create India's first universal fast charger for two- and three-wheelers, built to work seamlessly with what exists today and what's coming tomorrow. This isn't about creating new standards but ensuring that the right one is adopted at scale. In the months ahead, Blaze DC will be deployed across major metros, and in years to come, it will form the backbone of everyday charging nationwide," said S. Raghav Bharadwaj, CEO & Co-Founder, Bolt.Earth.
