Ultraviolette calls it the most advanced scooter in the world.
A new era has dawned upon Bengaluru-based EV manufacturer, Ultraviolette Automotive. It has finally stepped into the country’s much coveted electric scooter segment with the new Tesseract. Just like the Shockwave, UV took the radical approach here as well. Its sci-fi design is not without reason, and despite being priced at ₹1.45 lakh, the Tesseract is loaded to the brim with tech! Check out the key highlights of UV’s new electric scooter for India:
Coolest Looking Maxi-Scooter
The Ultraviolette Tesseract is hands down one sharp-looking maxi-scooter and every panel screams of premiumness. The front apron is characterised by quite the expressive headlight cluster that looks directly out of a sci-fi movie. The dual-tone design gives it a nice upmarket feel, plus that bulky design will rightfully give you the impression of being a nice performance-oriented machine. There is a hint of the BMW CE 04 in its form factor.
Three Battery Pack Options
Ultraviolette will be offering the Tesseract with the option of three battery packs – 3.5 kWh, 5 kWh, and 6 kWh. While the range with each pack is yet to be revealed, UV does claim that the Tesseract will be able to do 500 km of range with just ₹100 of charge. However, the certified range on offer here is 261 km on a single charge — we don’t know with which battery pack this certified range is for, though.
Performance Oriented Too With Quick Charging Times
All three batteries will come paired to a 20 bhp electric motor that will be good for a top speed of 125 kmph, slightly higher than the Shockwave. To ensure that buyers don’t wait long enough in between charges, UV claims that the Tesseract's battery takes just under 30 minutes to charge from 20 per cent to 80 per cent, thereby fast charging capability will be available here too.
Tech Galore!
As we said in the beginning, Ultraviolette claims that this is its most advanced scooter yet, and we couldn’t agree more. After all, many “advanced” features are on offer here. Besides the obvious dual-channel ABS, traction control, dynamic stability control, hill-hold assist, and park assist from the F77. The Tesseract also debuts a brand new 7-inch touchscreen TFT display with several connectivity features, and the handlebar gets haptic feedback too – something that we find quite unique. In addition to that, it also gets dashcam assist radar, along with a wireless smartphone charger onboard. Lastly, the lights are all LED units too.
VFM Electric Scooter That Is Practical At Its Best
The Ultraviolette Tesseract boasts a massive 34-litre under-seat storage space that can easily accommodate a full-face helmet. This is 2 litres more than the TVS iQube’s, on par with the Ather Rizta, and just 2 litres short of the Ola S1’s 36-litre boot space.
Plus, the Ultraviolette Tesseract is the second electric scooter in the market, after the River Indie, to ride on 14-inch alloy wheels – this should help its case with slightly higher ground clearance, too. Lastly, at ₹1.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), it's quite competitively priced against the likes of the Ather Rizta Z (3.7 kWh variant priced at ₹1.36 lakh, ex-showroom), iQube ST (5.1 kWh variant is priced at ₹2.16 lakh), and the 3rd gen Ola S1 Pro+ (₹1.54 lakh, ex-showroom price).
