The Tesseract will be the first electric scooter in India to use a 100V electrical architecture, which the company says will allow for 2X quicker charging.

Just a day after teasing launch details for its Tesseract scooter, Ultraviolette has confirmed a January 2027 launch window. The scooter was first unveiled in March 2025, and the company had even started accepting bookings. While a 2026 launch date was expected, Ultraviolette now says the radical-looking scooter has undergone a “strategic evolution” and will be more future-proof, with significant performance and charging improvements, which it hopes will offset any potential disappointment.

The Tesseract will be the first electric scooter in India to use a 100V electrical architecture, which the company says will allow for 2X quicker charging. This is also claimed to allow for thrice the power delivery compared to industry standards, better sustained performance in demanding riding conditions, higher load carrying capacity, and better overall reliability and energy efficiency. The Tesseract will also have a lighter and more compact charger.

The scooter’s engine outputs 15kW, which Ultraviolette claims is 3X more than the industry average. Ultraviolette says it has aimed to “future-proof” its platform, optimising for long-term scalability. Real-world testing and validation is currently underway across multiple terrain types, environmental conditions, and riding scenarios, ahead of the January 2027 launch target.

In addition, the scooter’s seat and floorboard space have also been improved. Many of these changes are the result of direct engagement with fans and customers, through roadshows and customer experience events across India in the year since the model was first unveiled. Ultraviolette says ergonomics, comfort, rider interface, practicality, and overall design have all been refined.

The company has not said anything new about pricing, variants, or specifications. It registered over 60,000 pre-bookings following the Tesseract’s unveiling, with 20,000 of those in its first week. At the time, the base variant with a 3.5 kWh battery was priced at ₹1.45 lakh with a special offer for the first 10,000 buyers bringing that down to ₹1.20 lakh. Pricing for higher variants with 5 kWh and 6 kWh battery options was not announced. Range was claimed to be 261 km per charge, but this was not tied to any of the battery capacity options.

The scooter is equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen, and benefits from dual-channel ABS, traction control, dynamic stability control, hill-hold assist, and park assist — features shares with the F77 bike.

In a statement, Ultraviolette CEO and co-founder Narayan Subramaniam said, “Building the Tesseract has been an incredibly ambitious and challenging journey for us. As we pushed the platform further through development and validation, it became evident that achieving the benchmarks we had set for ourselves required additional engineering and refinement — especially on the ride ergonomics and radical redesign of the battery architecture. While this extends our launch timeline, it ensures that every Tesseract customer receives a scooter that is not only future-ready but embodies the Ultraviolette DNA of performance, technology, and reliability.”

CTO and co-founder Niraj Rajmohan also said ““From the very beginning, the vision for the Tesseract was to create a scooter that would redefine benchmarks for the industry. Delivering on the performance and technology promises we made, while staying true to the Ultraviolette DNA, required us to rethink and evolve the platform significantly. The transition to a 100V architecture is a major step in that direction, enabling higher levels of power delivery, load carrying capability, and efficiency. Every engineering decision we have made on the Tesseract has been guided by our commitment to deliver a product that sets a new standard for mobility in India and globally.”
