HP to diversifies with EV charging: Attracting new customers, driving sustainability
Electric vehicle (EV) maker Ultraviolette is setting up charging stations at HP petrol pumps. This will be followed by an expansion across the country. The initial phase will see the installation of chargers across 12 select states. This will be followed by expansion across India. This convenient placement will eliminate range anxiety for Ultraviolette owners, encouraging more people to switch to eco-friendly electric transportation.
This strategic partnership leverages Ultraviolette's expertise in EV technology and HP's extensive network to address a key challenge in EV adoption: charging infrastructure. Ultraviolette's fast charging stations will be strategically placed along National Highways, state highways, and even remote areas, utilising HPCL's extensive network of fuel pumps across India. This setup will allow Ultraviolette's electric motorcycle riders to travel longer distances in less time.
Speaking on the partnership, Niraj Rajmohan, CTO & Co-Founder, Ultraviolette said, “We are delighted to partner with HPCL, which shares our vision of creating a robust EV charging infrastructure. This strategic partnership will enable us to leverage HPCL’s extensive network to offer a seamless and hassle-free charging experience while playing an active role in establishing a national charging infrastructure for electric motorcycles and enabling cross-country EV Motorcycle travel. We believe that this collaboration will accelerate the transition to cleaner forms of mobility, aligning with the Government of India’s ambitious vision for a cleaner and sustainable mobility landscape by 2030.”
Speaking on this partnership, Shri Debashis Chakraverty, Ch. General Manager, Retail Strategy & Business Development, HPCL said, “HPC is playing a leading role in aiding the adoption of EVs in the country by setting up charging infrastructure for removing range anxiety from EV owners. HPC is targeting to set up 5,000 Charging stations by December 2024. Presently HPCL is having more than 2600 charging stations at HPC outlets across the country. This alliance will further strengthen EV adoption in the 2W segment”.
With rising EV demand, initiatives like this are crucial. By providing accessible and convenient charging options, Ultraviolette and HP are paving the way for a cleaner and greener transportation future.
