Global automotive technology supplier ZF India Pvt Ltd has secured a major contract to deliver heavy-duty clutch systems to one of India's leading commercial vehicle manufacturers. The German firm will supply its 430mm heavy-duty clutch systems, which have been specifically designed to handle the challenging road and load conditions prevalent across India. These advanced components are intended for use with high-horsepower engine platforms.
Manufacturing will take place at ZF's production facility in Chakan, Pune.
The deal, which was concluded in May 2025, includes the delivery of several thousand units, with manufacturing operations scheduled to begin in the middle of 2026.
"ZF's strategic focus on localisation and innovation for the Indian market is reconfirmed with this business win. With our global technological expertise and strong local manufacturing footprint, we are enabling customers to access world-class technologies that are tailored for their specific market needs. This win highlights India's growing importance as a hub in ZF's commercial vehicles business," Akash Passey, President, Region India, ZF Group, said in a statement.
The newly developed clutch technology provides fleet operators with significant operational advantages, including a service life extension of up to 20 per cent compared to conventional systems.
"This business win validates our advanced heavy-duty clutch technology, designed to withstand India's demanding operating conditions. The 430mm clutch system delivers superior durability and is compatible with both manual and automated manual transmissions. Localised production at our Chakan facility supports the 'Make in India' vision and our customers' growth plans for domestic and export markets," said Paramjit Singh Chadha, Sr. Vice President, CVS Division (India), ZF Group.
Additional benefits include enhanced driver comfort through optimised clutch load characteristics and lower total ownership costs for commercial fleet managers.
