Varroc Names Eric Hamon Chief Technical Officer

Varroc has appointed Eric Hamon as its new Chief Technical Officer, with effect from 3 August, as the Pune-based automotive technology company looks to sharpen its focus on electrification and connected vehicle systems.

Hamon takes charge of Varroc's technology and engineering organisation and will report to Arjun Jain, Whole Time Director and CEO of Business I at Varroc. His brief includes shaping the company's technology strategy, optimising its product portfolio across electrification and electrical-electronics, and strengthening engagement with original equipment manufacturers and technology partners.

He joins from Valeo E, where he was Director of eAxle and System Platforms, responsible for the global product strategy of the French supplier's electric axle business. Over a career spanning more than 25 years, Hamon has worked across system engineering, embedded software, electrified powertrains and connectivity, and has led engineering teams across multiple regions.

The appointment comes as component suppliers in India recalibrate their engineering priorities to keep pace with the shift towards electric and software-defined vehicles. Automakers are increasingly demanding integrated electronics, embedded software and cybersecurity capabilities alongside traditional hardware, pushing suppliers such as Varroc to broaden their technical bench strength rather than compete solely on manufacturing scale.

Jain said the company was "delighted to welcome Eric Hamon to Varroc's leadership team," adding that his experience in translating technology into vehicle requirements would support the company's growth as the industry moves towards electrification and connected mobility.

Hamon said he was joining Varroc "at such a transformative time for the global automotive industry," pointing to the opportunities created by the pace of innovation in electrification, software and connected mobility. He said he intended to work with engineering teams across Varroc's global operations to deepen customer collaboration and expand the company's technology offering.

Varroc, which supplies lighting, electronics and polymer components to passenger vehicle and two-wheeler manufacturers in India and overseas, has been gradually expanding its electrical and electronics portfolio as demand grows for connected and electrified vehicle systems. The company counts several domestic and international original equipment manufacturers among its customers, and has been investing in capabilities spanning embedded software, functional safety and cybersecurity in recent years.

For India's auto component sector, executive hires of this kind signal the extent to which technology leadership has become a competitive differentiator. As electric vehicle penetration rises across passenger and two-wheeler segments, and as regulatory requirements around safety and emissions tighten, suppliers are under pressure to demonstrate deeper in-house engineering capability rather than relying solely on licensed technology from global partners.

Hamon's appointment is likely to be watched closely within the supplier ecosystem as an indicator of how established component makers are structuring their leadership teams to compete in a market increasingly shaped by software and electrification rather than mechanical engineering alone.
