SMC will also invest ₹3,200 crore to add a fourth assembly line at its Hansalpur plant in Gujarat.

At the ongoing 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit, Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC) Japan announced it will make significant investments in Gujarat. Toshihiro Suzuki, CEO of SMC, announced the Japanese manufacturer will invest more than ₹38,000 crore to increase the production capacity in Gujarat.

SMC announced it will invest ₹3,200 crore to add a fourth assembly line at its Hansalpur plant in Gujarat. This new assembly line is said to produce 2.5 lakh vehicles annually and take up the total annual production tally to 10 lakh units. The new assembly line will help boost electric vehicle (EV) production at the Hansalpur plant.

Toshihiro Suzuki said, “The first Battery Electric Vehicle from Suzuki Group will be rolled out from Suzuki Motor Gujarat by the end of this year.” This EV is likely to be the production version of the eVX concept that was showcased at Auto Expo 2023. Suzuki added, “We plan to sell this model not only in India but also export to Japan and European countries.”
