Vietnamese carmaker VinFast has added a new feather to its cap in India with its maiden offerings, the VF 6 and VF 7, receiving an impressive five-star safety rating in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP). The VinFast VF 6 secured 27.13 points out of 32 in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 44.41 points out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection (COP). On the other hand, the VinFast VF 7 scored 28.54 points out of 32 in AOP, and 45.25 points out of 49 in COP.

VinFast VF 6 BNCAP Test Results
With the VF 7, the frontal offset deformable barrier test revealed good protection to the driver and passenger’s head, neck, and pelvic regions. The results also observed “weak” protection to the driver’s chest area and “marginal to adequate” protection to the driver’s knees. Meanwhile, protection to the passenger’s knees was deemed “adequate.” The VF 6 managed to score full points in the side movable barrier test, and was rated “Ok” in the side pole impact test.
In terms of child occupant protection, the VF 6 got full points 24/24 in the dynamic test as well as the CRS installation test (12/12). The SUV scored 10 out of 13 points in the vehicle assessment test. The COP tests were performed with both the 18-month-old and the 3-year-old child dummies in rearward-facing child seats positioned in the rear outboard seats. The child seats were secured by ISOFIX anchorages. That said, the SUV does not get an integrated child restraint system.

VinFast VF 7 BNCAP Test Results
The VF 7 secured 12.54 points of 16 in frontal offset deformable barrier test. The test deemed weak protection to the driver’s chest area, while the driver and passenger’s shins saw adequate protection in the crash. The midsize electric SUV scored a full 16/16 points in side movable deformable barrier test, and was rated “Ok” in the side pole impact test.
With respect to child occupant protection, the VF 7 scored 23.25 of 24 points in the dynamic test, and a full 12/12 for the child restraint system (CRS) installation. The SUV secured 10 of 13 points in the vehicle assessment test, bringing up the total score to 45.25 points.
VinFast further revealed that in the pole impact test, the head injury assessment secured 109 on the VF 6 and 131 on the VF 7, substantially lower than the Bharat NCAP’s critical threshold of 700.

Both the VinFast VF 6 and VF 7 come with all the essentials on the safety front. This includes seven airbags, including a driver knee airbag, three-point seatbelts for all occupants, ESC, ISOFIX anchorages, and more. The SUVs also comply with the AIS-100 pedestrian safety norms.
