Vivaldi aims to give users choice and control over their browsing experience.
The Vivaldi browser has officially launched on iOS devices. Known for its flexibility and customization options, Vivaldi has been available for years on desktop and Android. Vivaldi for iOS, like all iOS browsers, uses the WebKit engine due to App Store restrictions, but CEO Jon von Tetzchner indicates that may change if upcoming EU regulations open the platform further.
Vivaldi aims to give users choice and control over their browsing experience. The iOS version includes features like desktop-style tab management, Speed Dials, built-in Panels for tools like bookmarks and notes, and Sync functionality to share browsing data across devices.
The tab interface allows easy viewing and switching between open tabs. The Tab Switcher offers more options for finding tabs and includes a trash can for retrieving recently closed tabs.
Speed Dials allow customization of the New Tab page with thumbnail bookmarks, while the Notes integrate directly into the browser for jotting down ideas while browsing. The Reading List feature saves web pages for later reading.
Vivaldi for iOS also comes equipped with a Tracker and Ad Blocker, with controls to enable blocking on a specific site quickly. Sync securely shares browsing data like bookmarks, history, and notes between devices using encryption.
Meanwhile, the iPad version tailors the interface for larger screens, including customizable Speed Dials on the Start Page. Vivaldi for iOS is available on the App Store now.
