VNT launches India's first 1 MW EV charger for ultra-fast, multi-vehicle charging, potentially reducing times dramatically.
VNT has launched India's first ever 1 MW electric vehicle (EV) charger, a potential game-changer that could redefine fast-charging infrastructure and propel the nation's green transport ambitions.
The powerful 1 MW charger delivers unprecedented power output, enabling ultra-rapid charging for multiple EVs at once, potentially juicing up a standard passenger vehicle in minutes rather than hours.
Engineered with scalability in mind, it supports diverse EV models, from sedans to heavy-duty commercial fleets, and integrates seamlessly with smart grids for efficient energy management.
Claimed to be tailored for India's unique grid challenges, the charger features advanced safety protocols, including thermal monitoring and overload protection, ensuring reliable performance in urban hubs, highways, and remote locales.
This launch comes at the right time as India's EV market has surged past 2 million units annually, driven by government incentives and rising consumer demand. By slashing charging times by up to 80% compared to conventional 150 kW units, VNT's solution promises to boost adoption rates, cut operational costs for fleet operators, and align with the country's net-zero targets by 2070.
Early deployments are slated for key corridors like Delhi-Mumbai and Bengaluru-Chennai, with partnerships eyed for public-private charging networks.
VNT's move underscores a broader ecosystem push, fostering collaborations with automakers and utilities to standardise high-megawatt charging. As the EV sector eyes 30% penetration by 2030, chargers like this could herald a new era of accessible, sustainable mobility, making electric rides as convenient as fossil-fuel ones.
