The car is set to launch in 2025 with a base price of under $26,400 (Rs. 21 lakh approximately)

Volkswagen has unveiled the ID.2all, which offers a first look at the European automaker's most affordable electric vehicle. The car is set to launch in 2025 with a base price of under $26,400 (Rs. 21 lakh approximately). Although it's a concept, it's clear that this model is close to pre-production, and it's similar in appearance to the ID.Life, which never made it to market. However, the ID.2all looks more like what an electric Golf would be.

Volkswagen is reportedly working on a sub-$21,000 EV with its Cupra brand, which could be the Volkswagen-branded twin of the ID.2all. This launch is significant because the price point will make electric cars accessible to many more customers, and because it's based on Volkswagen's MEB platform for front-wheel-drive models.

According to Volkswagen, the ID.2all will have front-mounted motors that produce 166 kW of power or 222 bhp, with a 0-100 kph time of less than 7 seconds. While the battery capacity has not been announced, Volkswagen is targeting 450 km of range according to the WLTP test cycle, which will translate to about 350 km in real-world usage. The car will also support DC fast charging, with 10-80% being achieved in 20 minutes, as well as a 11kW home charger or publicly available AC charging ports.

This five-door hatchback is 234 mm shorter than the current Golf, and is 1,812 mm wide, 1,530 mm high and 4,050 mm long, with a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. It features 20-inch wheels on 225/40 R20 tyres, a full LED light bar, bulged wheel arches, and hidden rear door handles with a new C-Pillar design. Volkswagen will likely use the ID.Gold badge when the car is sold.

Inside, the car has a 12.9-inch central infotainment screen with a new menu user interface, a 10.9-inch digital instrument cluster, and a larger panoramic sunroof. Other features include a HUD, separate air conditioning controls, large wireless charging pads, and magnetic holders. The car also offers USB Type-C connectivity and a 230 V socket to power larger devices such as laptops.
