Volkswagen has dropped the first teaser for the upcoming Tayron seven-seater SUV, ahead of its India launch later this year. The Volkswagen Tayron fills the void previously left by the Tiguan AllSpace, and will be positioned above the Tiguan R-Line that’s on sale in the country. The teaser video shared on the automaker’s social media handles showcases the silhouette of the upcoming model and its LED lighting.
The Volkswagen Tayron teaser shows off full-width LED lights at the front and rear, including the illuminated VW logo. The model appears to be identical to the global-spec version, but could see subtle differences for the Indian market such as larger 19-inch alloy wheels instead of 17-inch units seen on the global model.

The Volkswagen Tayron is identical to the Tiguan in design but is substantially larger in comparison, allowing for a more commanding road presence. The Tayron is 220 mm longer with a longer wheelbase too, which makes way for a third row. It also gets a bigger boot with a capacity of 850 litres, as opposed to 652 litres on the Tiguan. Moreover, India gets the sportier Tiguan R-Line, while the Tayron is expected to arrive in the standard guise, allowing for comfier front seats. The feature stack should be identical with a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, adaptive cruise control, wireless charging, parking sensors, ADAS, and more.

The Volkswagen Tayron will draw power from the 2.0-litre TSI engine shared with the Tiguan R-Line. The motor produces 201 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque, paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. The SUV will also come with all-wheel drive.

The upcoming Tayron is expected to be locally assembled in India at the Volkswagen Group’s Aurangabad facility, which should help keep prices competitive over the Tiguan R-Line, which arrives as a full import. Expect the SUV to be priced between ₹45-50 lakh (ex-showroom), taking on full-size SUVs such as thyoe Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, MG Gloster, and the new-gen Skoda Kodiaq.
