Upon launch, Volkswagen Tayron R-Line will lock horns with the likes of Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner, Jeep Meridian, and MG Gloster.
Volkswagen recently teased the Tayron 7-seater SUV on its social media handles without revealing its name. The German carmaker has now officially confirmed the launch of the Tayron R-Line in India. Slated to hit the Indian roads by the first quarter of 2026, Volkswagen has also confirmed that Tayron R-Line will be locally assembled out of CKD (completely knocked down) kits at Volkswagen's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) facility.
Hence, it is expected to be priced competitively around ₹45-50 lakh (ex-showroom). The Tayron will also mark Volkswagen’s entry into the premium 7-seat SUV segment in India after the Tiguan Allspace was discontinued almost four years ago. In the latest social media post, the “Tayron” branding on the tailgate can be seen clearly. Here’s what we can expect from the upcoming seven-seat Volkswagen SUV.
The Volkswagen Tayron has been spotted testing on Indian roads previously on a few occasions. The uncamouflaged test mules have revealed that the India-spec model will be almost identical to its international namesake. The Tayron will share many visual elements with the Tiguan R-Line but it will be slightly bigger than the latter to accommodate a third-row of seats.

Up front, the Tayron R-Line will feature a full-width light bar with an illuminated VW logo, paired with a wide lower grille. The test vehicle was fitted with the same 19-inch wheels as the Tiguan and is expected to be offered in an R-Line trim, complete with sportier front and rear bumpers and red accents. At the rear, the design closely mirrors the Tiguan, though the connected LED tail-lamp adopts a distinct detailing pattern.
Inside, the Tayron’s cabin layout is expected to closely mirror that of the Tiguan R-Line. While the Tiguan R-Line features an all-black interior with contrast stitching, the Tayron could be offered with different colour schemes and upholstery options.

The equipment list is likely to include a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.3-inch digital instrument cluster, panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a three-zone climate control, massaging front seats, wireless charging for up to two smartphones, and Level 2 ADAS to name a few. Further, the Tayron R-Line is expected to receive additional features such as ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat, a 360-degree camera, and a powered tailgate, over the Tiguan R-Line.

Volkswagen Tayron is expected to be powered by the same 2.0-litre TSI engine as the Tiguan R-Line, delivering 201 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The engine will be mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic gearbox, with power sent to all four wheels via Volkswagen’s 4MOTION all-wheel drive system.
