The new EX90 makes its global debut while the XC90 facelift will now come with only a hybrid powertrain.
Volvo has officially revealed its latest additions: the all-new EX90, a fully electric three-row SUV, and a facelifted version of its popular XC90. The refreshed Volvo XC90 is no longer offered with traditional petrol or diesel engines. Instead, it is exclusively available as a hybrid, reflecting Volvo’s commitment to more sustainable automotive solutions.
Visually, the updated XC90 features a refined exterior with subtle yet impactful changes. The sculpted bonnet enhances the vehicle's aerodynamic profile, while updates to the signature Thor’s Hammer LED headlights maintain the brand's recognisable design language. These adjustments, though modest, ensure the XC90's aesthetics remain consistent with Volvo's evolving lineup, particularly the new EX90.
Inside, the XC90 has undergone significant upgrades, particularly in its technological offerings. Following the design philosophy introduced with the EX90, the XC90 now features a minimalist interior, dominated by a 14.5-inch vertically oriented touchscreen. This display is powered by Volvo’s Google-based infotainment system, which is highly regarded for its user-friendly interface and seamless integration with Google services such as Google Maps, Assistant, and the Play Store. This system aims to provide a familiar and intuitive experience, particularly for customers who are already accustomed to Google’s ecosystem.
One of the standout features of the new XC90 is the advanced LiDAR-based surround-view sensing system. This technology, which includes eight cameras and radar, is designed to significantly enhance the vehicle's safety and driver assistance capabilities. The integration of LiDAR technology positions the XC90 at the cutting edge of automotive safety, reflecting Volvo's ongoing commitment to reducing accidents and improving road safety.
The Volvo EX90 represents the company's latest foray into the electric vehicle market and is poised to be a formidable competitor in the growing field of long-range electric SUVs. This fully electric SUV is designed with a three-row seating arrangement, catering to families and those requiring more passenger capacity without sacrificing comfort or luxury.
The EX90 is powered by a substantial 111 kWh battery pack, delivering an impressive WLTP range of up to 600 km on a single charge. This range places the EX90 among the leading electric SUVs currently available, making it a strong contender for consumers looking for a vehicle that combines sustainability with practicality.
