The refreshed SU7, seen here in its new Capri Blue colour option and only minor exterior design changes.

Xiaomi has announced that it is updating its first model, the SU7 sedan, to keep it competitive in its home market. While not much has changed in terms of design, there are some significant new features and options that will help keep the Xiaomi SU7 fresh nearly two years after its original launch.

Company CEO Lei Jun announced the updates in a livestream on China’s Weibo social media platform. All variants boast of better range now going up to 902km (CLTC), a re-engineered chassis for better safety and handling, and LiDAR plus 4D mmWave radar standard for ADAS and autonomous driving features.

Xiaomi SU7 facelift prices and availability

Prices range from CNY 229,900 (approximately ₹29.55 lakh before taxes) to CNY 309,900 (approximately 39.83 lakh), which are about 10,000–14,000 (₹1.28–1.8 lakh) higher than before, suggesting increased confidence, especially against prime rival Tesla. The variant tiers are unchanged, and are still called Standard, Pro, and Max. Pre-sales are now open, with deliveries expected to begin in April. Customers who are already on the waiting list can choose to upgrade to the facelifted version and will receive their cars on priority.

Xiaomi SU7 facelift design and safety

Not much has changed about the exterior design of this electric sedan, only a new front grille. Although not visible, the body has been re-engineered and now has improved compressive strength of 2,200 Mpa (Megapascals) compared to 2,000 Mpa before, with new anticollision beams. There’s a new “blade wheel” design, and the rear tyres are now 265mm wide rather than 245mm. A backup power source for the door locks has been added, likely in response to recent safety incidents and a government crackdown on handles that are inoperable after an accident.

The Xiaomi SU7 will be available in a new, deeper Capri Blue colour, and there’s also a new Dark Black interior option. The airbag count has increased from seven to nine.

Xiaomi SU7 facelift performance and ADAS

All three variants will now have Xiaomi’s refined V6s Plus motor, rather than the original V6 or V6s, as well as front four-piston fixed calipers. Maximum power is 320hp for the Standard and Pro variants and 690hp for the Max variant, up from 299hp and 673hp respectively. The upper two variants now have dual-chamber air suspension with continuous damping control, which was previously limited to the Max variant.

The biggest news is the upgrade from a 400V charging platform to 800V (752V for Standard and Pro, 897V for Max). A 15-minute charge will allow for 670km of range, up from 510km (Max variant). Total range has increased from 700km, 830km, and 800km for the Standard, Pro and Max variants to 720km, 902km, and 835km respectively.

The recently introduced Xiaomi HAD driving assistance system is now standard, replacing Xiaomi Pilot Pro. ADAS power has jumped up to 700 TOPS (trillion operations per second), from 84 (Standard) or 508 (Pro, Max).

There’s a new two-tone steering wheel, redesigned centre console and interior ambient lighting, and improved seats.

More detailed specifications are still to be announced. Local media and leaks in China suggest that battery density has also been improved. The upgraded ADAS performance is also likely due to a switch to Nvidia’s new Drive AGX Thor-U platform.

Xiaomi says it has shipped over 360,000 units of the SU7. This comes shortly after it announced it had exceeded its 2025 sales target by a wide margin. In early December 2025, On December 2, it announced its 500,000th car delivery. A month earlier, it shipped its 150,000th YU7 within six months of that model’s launch. While Xiaomi has confirmed it plans to enter the European market by 2027, likely with its first hybrid range extender models, there is no word of an India debut India yet.
