The filing reveals the exterior dimensions and performance characteristics of the Xiaomi EV.
The key specifications of Xiaomi's much-awaited first electric vehicle, dubbed the Xiaomi SU7 has been revealed in a regulatory filing with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
The filing reveals the exterior dimensions and performance characteristics of the Xiaomi EV for the first time. At 4,997mm in length, 1,963mm in width and 1,455mm in height, with a 3,000mm wheelbase, the Xiaomi SU7 is larger than rivals like the Tesla Model 3 and Nio ET5.
Xiaomi will offer the EV in three variants - a single motor SU7 weighing 1,980kg and dual motor SU7 Pro and SU7 Max variants weighing 2,205kg each. The single motor version outputs 220kW of power while the dual motor variants can combine to deliver 660hp.
Interestingly, the filing shows that BAIC Off-road Vehicle, not Xiaomi, is responsible for manufacturing the EV. However, local reports indicate Xiaomi has only borrowed BAIC's production qualifications and will manufacture at its own factory.
The MIIT filing opens up the EV for public feedback, marking the last major regulatory process before it can go on sale in China. Xiaomi is expected to start mass production of the SU7 from December ahead of a planned market launch in February 2024, potentially coinciding with MWC.
With autonomous driving capabilities and an optional roof LiDAR, the Xiaomi SU7 looks set to take on rivals like Tesla when it debuts at an anticipated price of less than 300,000 yuan.
