Yamaha Motor India has launched the FZ Blue Flex in the country, introducing its first flex-fuel motorcycle designed to run on E20 to E85 ethanol-blended fuels. The flex fuel variant of the popular Yamaha FZ is priced at ₹1,24,240 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The base version of the same bike is priced at ₹1.15 lakh, while the Yamaha FZ-S FI Hybrid is the most expensive variant as it retails for ₹1.39 lakh (all prices mentioned are ex-showroom).
The Yamaha FZ Blue Flex is powered by the brand's familiar 149 cc air-cooled, fuel-injected engine, producing 11.3 bhp of power and 12.8 Nm of peak torque, paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The flex-fuel-compatible engine is engineered to operate on varying ethanol blends without compromising everyday usability, so riders can fill the bike with either E20 or E85 fuel blends which are available currently and maybe any other blend in the future above E20 and below E85.
Commenting on the launch, Mr. Hajime Aota, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group, said: “Achieving a carbon-neutral future requires a dynamic, multi-pathway strategy rather than a single solution. Having already commenced our electric vehicle journey in India, the introduction of our innovative Blue Flex technology marks another strategic milestone. This move is a deliberate alignment of Yamaha’s global sustainability vision with the Indian government’s progressive biofuel policies. By embracing multiple technological avenues, we reinforce our commitment to global carbon neutrality goals while providing versatile, high-quality products tailored to the evolving needs of Indian consumers.”
In terms of design, the motorcycle retains the signature FZ styling with a full-LED projector headlamp, muscular fuel tank, aerodynamic bodywork, LED tail lamp, and a single-piece seat. Hardware includes telescopic front fork, monoshock, and a single-channel ABS. On the features front, the Yamaha FZ flex fuel sports a LCD instrument console, but it misses out on navigation, ration control and Bluetooth connectivity. The FZ Blue Flex will be offered in Metallic Black and will be available through select Yamaha Blue Square dealerships across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, and Tamil Nadu.
