With the latest price reduction, the Yamaha R15 is now a good Rs 20,000 cheaper than the KTM 160 Duke, which makes the former a more tempting choice for customers.
The Yamaha R15 lineup has received a price drop of Rs 5,000 in India, as part of the brand’s 70th anniversary celebrations. The Japanese manufacturer turned 70 in 2025, and the company is celebrating the milestone with a discount on the R15, one of its most popular offerings in India. As part of the celebrations, the Yamaha R15 S now starts at Rs 1,50,700. Meanwhile, the Yamaha R15 V4 is priced at Rs 1,66,200, while the R15 M costs Rs 1,81,100. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.
The price reduction should entice more buyers to look at the Yamaha R15, especially with the arrival of the KTM 160 Duke in the same space. The motorcycle holds a massive following, and remains one of the most potent entry-level performance motorcycles available in the country. Moreover, the R15 has created a legacy for itself, having been dominating the market since 2008. Yamaha has produced over one million units of the R15 range in India since inception.

There are no changes to the R15 outside of the price reduction. The bike continues to be underpinned by the Deltabox frame, while power comes from the 155 cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor equipped with VVA (Variable Valves Actuation) technology and DiASil cylinder technology. The engine produces 18.1 bhp at 10,000 rpm and 14.2 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm, paired with a 6-speed gearbox and an assist and slipper clutch.
With the latest price reduction, the Yamaha R15 is now a good Rs 20,000 cheaper than the KTM 160 Duke, which makes the former a more tempting choice for customers. The lowered prices, however, should be available for a limited period.

In related news, Yamaha recently patented the ‘R2’ nameplate in India, sparking rumours of a new 200 cc full-faired motorcycle under development. The Yamaha R2 could retain the same formula as the R15, borrowing the frame and styling, and possibly a bored-out engine packing more power. There is no confirmation from the brand yet. That said, reports suggest a launch is in the works around the festive season this year. Meanwhile, Yamaha is gearing up to enter the electric scooter segment with the CE-06 and Aerox E lined up for launch in this quarter.
