The electric bike was spotted a year after Hero MotoCorp signed a partnership with US-based Zero Motorcycles.
After Hero MotoCorp confirmed earlier this year that it plans to launch multiple electric scooters via its sub-brand, Vida. The electric two-wheeler major now seems to be planning for a different product offensive, with its US-based electric two-wheeler partner, Zero Motorcycles. And as part of this upcoming plan, the Zero FXE was recently spotted being tested in India, thus signaling an ongoing product development.
Hero MotoCorp entered into a partnership with Zero in the first half of 2023. Back then, several fresh investor reports had cited that both the brands would develop a completely new platform that would spawn four new electric motorcycles, exclusively for the Indian market. Now, while the Zero FXE is based on the Cypher 2 platform, which was developed by Zero Motorcycles for the US market – the first glimpse of this super-moto-styled bike in Bengaluru is also a sort of indication that the same might be brought over here as well and will serve as an introduction point for Zero Motorcycles in India.

With the Cypher-2 platform, the Zero FXE equips a 7.2 kWh battery paired with an air-cooled motor with a belt final drive. The motor has a total output of 46 bhp and 106 Nm, and with a kerb weight of 135 kg it can reach a top speed of 136 kmph, and do 161 km of range in the city.
So, from a performance point of view, the Zero FXE sounds exciting on paper. Suspension duties are taken care of by USD fork and a monoshock, both sourced from Showa. While we’re yet to receive official confirmation about its India launch, the fact that it is being tested near Bengaluru, where Hero already has a big team in place, working on EVs, including Ather Energy as well – makes us all the more optimistic about its launch in our country.

Now the question lies, when will the Zero FXE launch in the country? Our guesses are most probably by next year if both Hero MotoCorp and Zero Motorcycles sense a favourable situation.
