Does the KTM have the X factor to beat the Himalayan 450?
The ADV segment is booming in our country with a slew of new bikes entering the market at a rapid pace. One of the most popular bikes in the sub-500 cc segment has been the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. The bike built on a new platform and new engine has impressed us a lot with its touring capabilities, comfort and off-road credibility. KTM on the other hand recently launched the 2025 390 Adventure in two trims - X and the Adventure S variant. While the KTM 390 Adventure S is the more haardcore version with adjustable suspension, tubeless spoke wheels, off-road rubber and more electronic aids, it;s also very expensive at ₹3.68 lakh (ex-showroom).
On the other hand, the KTM 390 Adventure X is a more affordable option at ₹2.90 lakh (ex-showroom). Yes, the KTM 390 Adventure X isn’t as off-road focused as its older sibling and runs on 19/17-inch alloy wheels, misses out on ride modes and electronic aids, but the engine, frame and the suspension components are the same. Hence we felt the better rival for the Himalayan 450 is the 390 Adventure X. In this comparison video we talk about highway performance, city performance, touring, comfort, off-road ability, spares and many more critical aspects which are important factors for the buyers.
