In a move to keep a tab on the pollution levels, the Delhi Transport Department has launched a campaign to check Pollution Under Control (PUC) certificates of vehicles at fuel stations. A team of four members is placed at fuelling stations to execute this task. The total number of such PUCC-checking teams is estimated to be five hundred.

Vehicles running on petrol, diesel, as well as CNG shall be checked as per this pollution control initiative. If a vehicle owner arrives at a fuelling station and the owner does not have a valid PUCC when the authorities check for it, the vehicle owner shall face a challan of Rs. 10,000. Usually, there is a rise in air pollution levels in the capital during the winter season, and such an initiative is aimed to reduce it.
