While in essence, both the xLine and the M Sport are powered by the same powertrain options, it is the cosmetic tweaks that help differentiate both models. However, the key highlight of the facelift is on the inside.
Exterior
BMW has jazzed up the X5 with some tweaks here and there. They've swapped out the old-school 'angel eye' insignia on the headlights for a sleeker design. The X5 now boasts a reworked kidney grille and a tweaked front bumper. They've even gone the extra mile and made the grille illuminable.
Now, if you really want to go all out, you can opt for the M Sport trim which receives tweaked illumination at the rear. Not only that but you'll also be treated to gloss black exterior detailing. And let's not forget the new design for the rear bumper.
Tech & Interior
The X5’s interior is a wild mix of screens, misplaced controls, faux luxury, illuminated trim, and a panoramic light show. First up, is the latest iDrive OS8 infotainment setup with two screens- a 12.3-inch touchscreen holding hands with a massive 14.9-inch digital instrument cluster. Now, to make room for this, BMW had to do some serious dashboard gymnastics, and decided to shuffle the stereo and defroster controls below the touchscreen.
The climate controls got repositioned to the bottom of the touchscreen itself, which makes it slightly difficult to get to initially. The seats on the xLine get faux-leather upholstery while the ones on the M Sport receive full Merino leather for those who want to experience true luxury. The panoramic sunroof gets LED light strips lining the roof.
Engine & Transmission
Under the hood, there’s no change in powertrain options, and continues to be powered by a 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder, in-line petrol, and diesel engine that produces 376 bhp and 520 Nm in the former while the latter develops 282 bhp and 650 Nm of peak torque.
