2024 Audi Q8 India Launch Details Announced

After sharing a teaser last week, Audi India has officially announced the Audi Q8 facelift will debut in the country on August 22, 2024. The flagship SUV from the German carmaker made its global debut last year in December and arrives in India to rival the likes of the BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLE, Volvo XC90 and even the Lexus RX in the country. The new Audi Q8 has a revised design which includes new front and rear aprons. For the first time, the Q8 is equipped with HD Matrix LED headlights, complemented by an additional laser high beam. These advanced headlights offer digital daytime running lights and customisable light signatures. The rear of the vehicle features new digital OLED taillights, also with selectable designs.

Audi has also introduced new colour options, wheels, and interior decorative inlays. Notably, the Sakhir Gold, Ascari Blue, and Chili Red finishes from Audi Sport GmbH are available as metallic options. Additionally, five new wheel designs, ranging from 21 to 23 inches, offer buyers a range of choices.

The upgraded Q8 brings significant technological improvements, particularly in lighting and driver assistance systems. The HD Matrix LED headlights, combined with laser light technology, are designed to provide superior visibility and safety. The laser light activates at speeds above 70 kmph, extending the high beam range significantly, while the customisable digital light signatures enhance the vehicle's distinctive look. In the rear, the new digital OLED lights, available as an option, include a proximity indication feature.

The 2024 Audi Q8 offers a range of engines, all paired with an 8-speed tiptronic transmission and Audi’s signature Quattro all-wheel-drive system. The lineup begins with the 45 TDI, a three-litre V6 diesel engine producing 228 bhp and 500 Nm of torque, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.1 seconds. A more powerful 50 TDI variant delivers 282 bhp and 600 Nm of torque, cutting the 0 to 100 kmph time to 6.1 seconds.

For those preferring a petrol engine, the Q8 55 TFSI features a three-litre V6 with 335 bhp and 500 Nm of torque. This variant achieves 0 to 100 kmph in 5.6 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph.

All engine options include a mild hybrid system, which utilises a lithium-ion battery and a belt alternator starter (BAS), allowing the Q8 to coast with the engine off at speeds between 55 and 160 kmph. The Q8’s driving dynamics are further enhanced by an optional electronically controlled air suspension system with adaptive damping, available in both standard and sports configurations.
