More than just a bunch of much-anticipated adventure tourers will finally break cover in Milan.
The 2024 EICMA will mark the return of KTM to the motor show after a five-year break. To celebrate this comeback, the Austrian brand will go big this year by launching not just one, two or even five motorcycles – but thirteen brand-spanking new bikes.
But the ones that will hold the most value for us Indian customers will be the new-gen KTM 390 Adventure line-up. Unlike the first-gen model, the upcoming KTM 390 Adventure range will have four different offerings with varied settings that will make it ideal for various riders. Details about these other models were recently leaked online. But here’s a summarised version of them all.
Starting with the KTM 390 Adventure X. It will be the most road-focused off the lot. It will feature non-adjustable suspension and a 19/17-inch alloy wheel setup. It is also expected to have minimal electronic rider aids, which should help its case to come with an affordable price tag, just like the current-gen KTM 390 Adventure X.
For those seeking a balance between on-road and off-road capabilities, there will be the 390 Adventure R. We have spotted its test mule several times in India. Besides the new suite of electronic rider aids found on the current-gen 390 Duke, the bike will also get cruise control, something that will be a first-in-segment feature. Then there is the KTM 390 Enduro R, which will be tailored for hardcore off-road enthusiasts: right from its long-travel suspension and a stripped-down minimal body design down to its Dakar rally-styled front section. The upcoming KTM 390 Enduro R promises to be the ultimate tool for tackling some of the most challenging trails that Mother Nature will have on offer.
Finally, there will be the 390 SMC R, a supermoto-inspired model that combines street-focused performance with off-road capabilities. Its long-travel suspension and 17-inch wheels will make it a versatile choice for both city streets and dirt tracks. While KTM plans to produce all four models in India, the SMC R is unlikely to be offered in the Indian market. The Adventure X and Adventure R are expected to arrive by early-2025, followed by the Enduro R a few months later.
Along side the above bike, KTM will also have on display the new 1390 Super Adventure S Evo and the 1390 Super Adventure S. Both of which will also debut the brand’s first touchscreen instrument cluster. Plus, KTM’s first semi-automatic gearbox will also be displayed. Considering that the Austrian bike maker is seriously considering bringing these big orange meanies to our shore, perhaps at IBW 2024, we should get a fair idea of what its in store for Indian enthusiasts.
Additionally, the KTM 1390 Super Duke GT, the Freeride E, an electric bike for kids, and the latest series of SX-badged motocross bikes will also be displayed in full production. Stay tuned to this space, for we will be reporting live from Milan, so you won’t miss out on any of the updates.
