Making its quarter-litre sport bike more exciting than ever, Honda has introduced an updated version of the CBR250RR in the Malaysian market. The revisions mainly focus on engine modifications, which in turn have resulted in a slight increase in power.
The 2024 Honda CBR250RR continues to be equipped with the same 249 cc, twin-cylinder engine but it now produces 41 bhp at 13,000 rpm, which is an increase of 1 bhp from before. Honda managed to eke out this extra power by increasing the combustion ratio from 12.1:1 to 12.5:1, which has resulted in a decrease in combustion volume from 7.5 cc to 7 cc. Additionally, the dimension of the intake port has also been increased from 21.4 mm to 21.6 mm, which in turn has made the engine smoother than before.
Beyond that, the torque output remains the same at 25 Nm produced at 11,000 rpm, and the engine comes paired to the same 6-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch, complimented by a quickshifter. Suspension duties are handled by 37mm Showa Separate Function Big Piston fork at the front and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. The motorcycle retains its 17-inch alloy wheels and the braking system, which consists of single hydraulic disc brakes at both ends with dual-channel ABS.
Other features include a blue backlit LCD dashboard and full LED lighting. The CBR250RR has a fuel tank capacity of 14.5 litres and a kerb weight of 189kg.
The chances of the Honda CBR250RR launching in India are next to nill due to its high price quotient of 27,100 MR (around ₹4.95 lakh). The Japanese however has been considering introducing a few adventure motorcycles the likes of which include the CRF300L and CRF300L Rally both of which were recently tested in a closed off-road circuit. When will this launch take place, that is yet to be confirmed.
