Update comes with a price bump of ₹ 9,000 compared to last year
Kawasaki India has unveiled the 2024 iteration of its Z900. This update comes with a revised price tag of ₹ 9.29 lakh (ex-showroom), reflecting a ₹ 9,000 increase compared to its predecessor.
While the essence of the Z900 remains unchanged, the Sugomi design department has subtly refreshed the available colour options. The 2024 model continues to retain its aggressive aesthetic, characterised by a muscular fuel tank, a sharp headlight, and a sporty riding position. This year, riders can choose between two similar colour schemes: Metallic Spark Black, and Metallic Matte Graphene Steel Grey.
While the design department has seen minor changes, the core of the Z900 remains its potent engine. The 2024 model continues to be powered by the same proven 948cc, liquid-cooled, inline-four engine. This reliable power plant delivers 123.6 bhp of peak power at 9,500 rpm and 98.6 Nm. The engine is paired with a six-speed gearbox.
The 2024 Z900 utilises a high-tensile steel trellis frame. Suspension duties are handled by a 41mm upside-down fork and a monoshock, both adjustable for preload and rebound damping. Braking performance comes from twin 300 mm discs in the front and a single 250 mm disc in the rear.
The 2024 Z900 isn't just about aesthetics. It has a range of rider-centric features. This includes selectable power modes for adjusting power delivery, traction control for enhanced safety, and four riding modes – Sport, Road, Rain, and Rider – allowing for customisation based on riding conditions and preferences. Additionally, a TFT instrument cluster displays vital information and connects to the Kawasaki Rideology app, offering smartphone connectivity for further convenience.
It faces stiff competition from several established rivals. The Ducati Monster, with its Italian heritage and powerful L-Twin engine, offers a distinct character and slightly higher price point. The Triumph Street Triple R, known for its agile handling and power-thrilling 765cc triple-cylinder engine, is another strong contender. The Triumph Street Triple R is priced at ₹10.17 lakh, while the Ducati Monster costs more at ₹12.94 lakh
