The updated supersport gets an engine tune that is more powerful than before, even more than the RTR 310's

TVS has once again updated its flagship sport bike – the Apache RR 310 – by giving it a bit more oomph and a lot of new fancy features. Prices for the new model start at ₹2.75 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Here are the detailed prices:

 Prices (ex-showroom Delhi)
Racing Red w/o quickshifter₹2.75 lakh
Racing Red w quickshifter₹2.92 lakh
Bomber Grey₹2.97 lakh

BTO Kit
Dynamic Kit₹18,000
Dynamic Pro Kit₹16,000
BTO Colour₹7,000

Not much has changed in terms of design, the same shark-inspired styling continues to feature here. The main highlight remains the addition of winglets that are standard on all trims of the bike. There's also a transparent clutch cover that gives you the aesthetic of a dry clutch, something that is commonly found on race bikes. You do get two colour options: Racing Red and Bombey Grey. There’s also the special BTO colour to opt for from the BTO customisation section.

Powering the RR 310 remains the same 312.2 cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled mill that is now pushing out a bit more power. Thanks to the revised engine internals, the motor is now making 37.48 bhp and 29 Nm, which is 3.94 bhp and 1.7 Nm more than before. The six-speed gearbox remains unchanged but there is a bi-directional quickshifter that comes standard on all but the base trim. You still get 4 riding modes that alter the engine state of tune as well as the ABS calibration settings.

In terms of the electronic rider aids, the RR 310 can be fitted with TVS’ Race Tuned Dynamic Stability Control package by opting for the Dynamic Pro kit. This suite unlocks cornering traction control, wheelie control, rear lift off control (stoppie control basically), cornering ABS, cornering cruise control and slope dependent control. While these aids will come in handy, paying ₹16,000 more seems a bit much, especially when the asking price is already pretty high.

Ergonomically, the RR 310 seems to now arrive with the slightly more aggressive clip-on bars that used to be available as part of the BTO kit earlier. Whether or not the footpeg position is altered or not remains to be seen.

We would definitely suggest getting the Dynamic Kit that adds adjustable suspension, TPMS (tyre pressure monitoring system), and the brass coated chain. These bits will definitely improve the riding experience of the motorcycle and help you fine tune the bike to your riding style or scenario.

Besides these updates, the rest of the bike remains the same. Hence, the same colour TFT screen, the same front radial caliper with petal disc, same 17-inch alloys and the lovely Michelin Road 5 rubber still continue to find their way on the sport bike.

While the pricing of the base model sounds reasonable, when you do add up all of the costs of the BTO kits (₹34,000), the asking price with the quickshifter shoots up to ₹3.36 lakh. For that money, you will be able to get the KTM RC 390 (₹3.21 lakh), which is a far more powerful motorcycle and, in its latest avatar, nearly as comfortable as the RR 310. And in case you are keen on going to trackdays, the Aprilia RS457 boasts of a more enriching and engaging experience but it is quite a lot more expensive at ₹4.13 lakh.

We will be riding this bike shortly and bringing all the details on the revisions in the coming few weeks.
