2025 Acko Drive Awards: Citroën Basalt, MG Windsor Win Car Design

The Car Design nominees for the 2025 TOTMs were the Citroën Basalt, MG Windsor and even the Tata Curvv. All three cars address the Compact SUV buyer. While the two-coupe SUVs (the Basalt and the Curvv) usher in a new body style in the very competitive compact SUV segment, the MG Windsor, is trying to create a niche of its own by being the most compact and comfortable of the lot. The design too is something we’ve never seen in India before. The short overhangs and even the floating roof, and the shape, it all catered to a new audience.

But while the jury members debated about who would win the top prize, they were divided in their opinions, when it comes to two cars – the Citroën Basalt and the MG Windsor. Now of course the question was how to choose the winner because both cars received an equal number of votes. Hence, it was decided by the members that both cars will share the trophy.

It was for the first time in the TOTMs history that the Car Design award was shared between two cars, the Citroën Basalt and the MG Windsor.
