The MG Windsor was in a league of its own for offering consumers the possibility to purchase an EV differently.
The MG Windsor EV was one of the most interesting MPV this year. Not because of the fact it was one of the few of its kind to launch, with quite the different appeal. With the Windsor EV, JSW-MG brought with it new possibilities of purchasing an EV. Precisely the reason why it won our MPV Of The Year TOTM awards. The BYD eMax 7 was the other MPV in this segment the Windsor EV surpassed to win the TOTMs.
The most notable feature of this electric vehicle is its innovative pricing approach. MG has implemented a Battery-as-a-Service model, separating battery and charging expenses from the vehicle cost. This strategy allows MG to offer the Windsor EV at a competitive price point just under ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
By breaking down traditional ownership costs and offering a flexible battery service plan, MG has created an accessible entry point into the electric vehicle. It achieved this while maintaining practical everyday usability through thoughtful design and space management. While matching the Astor's length, the new Windsor EV combines a wheelbase close to the larger Hector with an even broader stance than both models. This clever packaging results in generous interior space, including an impressive 604-liter cargo area.
From a performance point of view as well, the MG Windsor EV doesn’t disappoint. The ride quality feels supple, and the ride character feels different in different ride modes as well. The steering weighing up in Sports mode is a nice touch that impressed us during our test ride. All in all, we were really pleased and the jury agreed too. Hence why its the MG Windsor EV that takes the TOTM recognition for 2025.
