The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara take on the likes of the new Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3, Tata Curvv.ev and even the Mahindra BE 6.
Maruti Suzuki has finally unveiled its first EV, the e Vitara at the ongoing 2025 Auto Expo. Set for a market launch later this year, the new e Vitara made its official global debut last year in November, and now with its India debut, it’ll take on the likes of the new Hyundai Creta Electric, MG ZS EV, BYD Atto 3, Tata Curvv.ev and even the Mahindra BE 6.
Central to the e Vitara’s performance are four battery capacity options: 49 kWh and 61 kWh in both 2WD and 4WD versions, with a seating capacity of five passengers. In terms of power output, the latter produces a maximum of 142 bhp, while the 4WD model offers a combined output of up to 181 bhp (172 bhp at the front and 64 bhp at the rear), along with a maximum torque of 300 Nm.
Regarding the design, the styling of the e Vitara resembles a lot with the current crop of vehicles from the Maruti stable. However, the large tyres and extended wheelbase stand out, creating a commanding presence along with black plastic wheel arch guards, lower body mouldings, tough bumpers, and sills. At the rear, a full-width LED light bar enhances visibility while adding a futuristic touch to the muscular styling.
Measuring 4275 mm in length, the e Vitara is 200 mm longer than the current hybrid model, offering more cabin space for five passengers. Despite its size, the lightest variant weighs just 1702 kg, making it a practical yet spacious option for adventurers and families alike.
