A bunch of tweaks to the frame and the addition of new features just made the sports tourer all more capable.
Yamaha's potent adventure-cum-sports tourer, the Tracer 9, just got revamped for 2025. Like the Yamaha MT-09 and the MT-07, the Tracer 9 also gained the brand's new semi-automatic transmission system. It will continue to be available in three trims: Standard, GT, and GT+. The Y-AMT system will be available as an option with the GT trim, while the GT+ trim will get it as a standard fitment.
The 2025 Yamaha Tracer 9 will continue to be powered by the same 890 cc, CP3 triple engine with the same 117 bhp and 93 Nm. However, Yamaha claims the engine is more refined than before, meeting the latest Euro 5+ emission standards. The engine continues to be assisted by a bunch of lean-sensitive electronics powered by a six-axis IMU. Riders can also choose from five riding modes, including two customisable options - all adjustable through the dash or Yamaha's mobile app.
The motorcycle continues to be built around the same tried-and-tested die-cast aluminium Deltabox chassis. However, the subframe has been redesigned to make it 150 g lighter and 50mm longer. This will allow for improved pillion accommodation. Similarly, the rider's seat has been re-engineered with a flatter profile and enhanced padding, with two height-adjustable settings. Like the MT-07, the Yamaha Tracer 9 also gets the latest spin forged wheel technology, shod with Bridgestone Battlax T32 sports touring tyres.
There's also a 7-inch TFT dashboard with mobile connectivity. With the GT and GT+ trims, the dash supports Garmin navigation onboard. However, the most significant feature update must be the new matrix LED headlight system, which automatically adjusts beam patterns based on surrounding light conditions and changes the bike's appearance from the front. Lastly, the GT variants benefit from semi-active KYB suspension, while the GT+ adds radar-guided adaptive cruise control and blind spot detection.
The standard Tracer 9 has a manually adjustable screen, KYB suspension, and integrated USB charging. The GT adds electronic suspension, an electronic windscreen, and keyless ignition. The flagship GT+ rounds out the package with backlit switchgear, tyre pressure monitoring, and a specialised DLC-coated DID chain for enhanced durability.
Sadly, the Yamaha Tracer 9 was never entertained for the Indian market and will remain the same. However, there are reports that Yamaha is contemplating launching the Tenere 700 in India. But that is not happening before 2026. To know more about the Indian-bound Yamaha big bikes head to the link here.
