This new version is expected to hit the market in Spring 2026.
After the KTM 790 Adventure and 890 Adventure, the Austrian brand is now working on its successor which is slated to be called the KTM 990 Adventure. Going by the first spy shots of the bike, the upcoming mid-range travel enduro will barely have any relation with the previous two models.
For starters, the KTM 990 Adventure will boast a new fairing design. Unlike the 790 and 890 Adventure, the 990 Adventure will have a more linear design, instead of an in-your-face aggressive design. The front section reminds us of the Ducati DesertX, but unlike a twin headlight design, the KTM 990 Adventure boasts of a single-projector headlamp, and the indicators are integrated into the cowl, instead of attaching them separately to the body.
Mechanically, it will be powered by the same revised LC8c inline-twin engine that is already available with the 990 Duke which produces 123 bhp. However, reports suggest that the upcoming 990 Adventure will have its own set of tunes, which means that the engine might lack some horsepower which in turn should benefit the bike’s torque curve.
As part of the powertrain revisions, the upcoming KTM 990 Adventure has been spotted with a newly designed exhaust system, with a larger collector the rear silencer is positioned lower. As a result of which, the swing arm has been updated as well. Along with this, the rear frame of the KTM 990 Adventure also seems all new for it looks shorter and slimmer than the existing model.
Another notable aspect of the KTM 990 Adventure is the new split-in-two design radiator. We have already witnessed this same design in the bigger KTM 1390 Super Adventure, and this design yields better cooling.
Reports further stated that KTM might also transfer the developments it will introduce with the 990 Adventure to other adventure models in its portfolio. On that line, in India, we are gearing up for the launch of the 2025 KTM 390 Adventure, and its aesthetics and underpinnings will be based on the third-generation KTM 390 Duke. The new KTM 390 Adventure has already been spotted being tested in the country, and an official launch date is expected to be revealed by the end of this year or by early 2025.
