We expect the new Maruti Suzuki Baleno facelift to come out around Diwali this year.
Maruti Suzuki is presently working on a number of models, the updated Baleno being one of them. The Baleno received its last major update in 2022 and the premium hatchback is due for another sometime later this year. A test mule of the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Baleno has been spotted for the first time.
The latest spy images show a fully-camouflaged test prototype of the Baleno spotted testing coincidentally alongside an older first-gen model of the premium hatchback. The upcoming Baleno is expected to receive an updated exterior styling, some new features, and some crucial mechanical changes too.
From the latest spy images it is evident that the rear end and profile of the 2026 Baleno facelift remains unchanged with the same lighting signature and silhouette, respectively. It is expected to receive new alloy wheels, though. The tailgate design appears to remain unchanged, while the rear bumper receives minor updates. The LED tail lamps may feature revised internal elements, though clearer details are expected closer to the launch.

The big change, however, is at the front end where the Baleno gets a completely new face. The redesigned fascia comprises a wider grille flanked by sleeker LED headlamps. The bumper also seems reprofiled with a new air dam.
Although not confirmed, the interior layout of the upcoming Baleno facelift is likely to remain the same. New features like a single-pane electric sunroof, and a wireless charging pad are expected to be included in the equipment. Other feature highlights will include nine-inch infotainment with wireless connectivity, 360-degree parking camera, cruise control, and rear AC vents.
The biggest update in the new Baleno will be seen under the hood. The facelifted Baleno is expected to receive the new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine which made its debut in the new Swift last year. That said, this engine is expected to benefit from a new mild-hybrid system that will not only offer enhanced performance but better fuel efficiency too. This unit is likely to be paired with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT.

Speculations are rife that the 1.0-litre Boosterjet turbo petrol engine, that is currently employed in the Fronx, could also be added to the new Baleno lineup. This motor pushes out 99 bhp and 147.6 Nm of torque. Transmission duties for this motor can be carried out by a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
