While the underpinnings remain identical with the Renault Triber, Nissan has given the Gravite MPV a different identity with new styling and features.

Nissan India has finally launched the new Gravite three-row offering, marking its arrival in the subcompact MPV segment. The new Nissan Gravite is priced at an introductory ₹5.65 lakh lakh (ex-showroom) for the first 1,001 bookings. This space has solely belonged to the Renault Triber, and the new Nissan Gravite is the badge-engineered cousin of the same. While the underpinnings remain identical, the Japanese automaker has given the Gravite a different identity with new styling and features.

The new Nissan Gravite is identical to the Triber in dimensions. The front profile gets a thorough revision with a more Nissan-like V-Motion grille complemented by the black honeycomb mesh, lending a bold look. The sharply styled headlamps come with split LED DRLs to give the face a different look. The bumper design is new as well and incorporates the fog lamps, while there’s a  brushed silver skid plate to complete the styling.

The profile remains the same as the Triber, save for the new alloy wheel covers, while the roof rails are finished in brushed silver as well. The rear gets wraparound taillights with new internal elements, and both units are connected by a chrome garnish on the tailgate. The silver finish extends to the rear bumper as well.

Much like the Triber, the Gravite is tall, liberating more headroom especially in the third row. The cabin remains identical to the Triber, sporting a digital console and touchscreen infotainment system in the top trims. It also gets a 2+3+2 seating configuration with the top trims getting pillar-mounted AC vents in the second row. The third row remains the same and can be completely removed to maximise space, up from 84 litres with all three rows up, to 625 litres in a five-seater setup.

On the feature front, the new Nissan Gravite is equipped with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, push-button start/stop, 360-degree camera, reverse parking sensors, multiple USB charging ports, and more. The safety tech will include six airbags, ABS, EBD, ESC, TPMS, ISOFIX anchorages for the child seat, and more.

The new Nissan Gravite is powered by the familiar 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, which develops 71 bhp and 96 Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and an AMT unit. Nissan is also offering a CNG version right from the launch, albeit the kit needs to be retrofitted at the dealership.

The Renault Triber is priced between ₹5.76 lakh and ₹7.91 lakh (ex-showroom), and is the closest rival to the Nissan Gravite. The model undercuts other popular MPVs, including the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Toyota Rumion, which measure over four metres in length.
