The Sierra ICE and Sierra EV will be two of the 15 cars that Tata Motors will bring out by the end of this decade.
Tata Motors is geared up to pull the covers off from the new generation of Sierra on 25 November 2025. The company showcased a pre-production concept of the same at the Bharat Mobility Expo earlier in January this year. The Sierra nameplate is being resurrected after the original went off sale in the late 1990s.
Ahead of its official debut, the Sierra has been spotted testing once again. In the latest set of spy shots, a fully-camouflaged test mule of the Sierra is seen carrying an emission testing kit attached to its exhaust. This prototype has been caught on camera in the streets of Pune. The emission testing kit reveals that this is the combustion-powered version of the upcoming Sierra.

For the uninitiated, Tata Motors will bring out both derivatives of Sierra — combustion as well as fully electric. The former will come out first followed by the latter, a few months down the road. Even though the latest test mule was wrapped completely underneath a thick foliage, a few visual elements of the new-gen Tata Sierra stood out clearly.
Only the rear end of the new-gen Tata Sierra can be visible in the latest crop of spy images. The connected LED taillights are now slimmer and sharper compared to those on the near-production concept showcased at Auto Expo 2025. The new design moves away from the previous straight light signature, adopting a more fluid and curvier appearance.
The spy images also indicate a bulkier rear section as compared to the concept that looked more geometric. One of the spy images highlights a blacked-out flush-fitted door handle with a request sensor. Sharp-eyed observers will notice the heavily camouflaged rear quarter section near the C-pillar, which appears to mimic the signature Alpine-style window design. However, unlike the original Sierra which was a three-door SUV, the new-gen Sierra will adopt a more conventional 5-door setup.

While the front end design isn’t visible in the latest set of images, we expect Tata Motors to stick to the concept presented earlier this year. This means, the Sierra will get a gloss black grille up front flanked by split rectangular LED headlamps along with an aggressive front bumper that houses a chunky skid plate.
The interiors of the Sierra still remain in the dark, however, the concept suggests that it will get a new dashboard design which is very different from the current lot of Tata cars. It is also likelyto debut Tata’s first-ever triple-connected screen setup. Other features likely to make it to the Sierra’s equipment include a panoramic sunroof, a JBL sound system, dual-zone auto AC, and ventilated and powered front seats.
The safety package will consist of features such as six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors and a level-2 advanced driver assistance system (ADAS).

Although not confirmed yet, the upcoming Tata Sierra ICE will come with petrol as well as diesel engine options. The former is likely to be the brand new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol (direct injection) engine showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo. This motor is expected to push out around 170 horses and 280 Nm of peak torque.
The diesel unit is likely to be borrowed from Harrier and Safari which kicks out 168 bhp and 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter. A 7-speed dual-clutch automatic could also be added as an option.
