Besides a complete overhaul of design, the new-gen Hyundai Creta is also expected to receive some additional features, and a new hybrid powertrain.
It’s no secret that Hyundai is working on the third generation of Creta — its most popular model in India by far. Test units of the Hyundai Creta have been caught on camera on multiple occasions in recent months. First launched in 2015, the Creta received a generation upgrade in early 2020.
Another set of spy shots have surfaced on the internet that give another glimpse of the upcoming iteration of Hyundai Creta. Moreover, this is the first time that the 2027 Creta has been spied testing on the streets of the United States of America. Still heavily under wraps, it is evident that the new-gen Creta seems to have grown in size.
The latest spy images suggest that the upcoming Hyundai Creta is likely to be designed from the scratch rather than a rehashed rendition of the existing model. The SUV appears to be longer and more upright than the current model. The test unit of the new Creta feels all jacked up thanks to its more assertive stance. Hyundai has opted for a more squared styling as opposed to the slightly rounded appeal seen in the current model.

More importantly, the upcoming version of the compact SUV visibly looks bigger than its predecessor. For instance, the current Creta measures 4.33 metre in length, while its successor is expected to measure around 4.40 metre. The increase in length is possible due to the new K3 platform which made its debut in the second-gen Kia Seltos late last year. For reference, the new-gen Kia Seltos measures 4.46 metres in length, way longer than the older model.
The larger dimensions are also expected to lead to enhanced room inside the cabin to make it a more comfortable and practical offering than the current Creta. Further, the cabin is expected to see some additional features on board including an improved connected car tech, a more expansive ADAS package, and comfort upgrades such as Boss Mode and improved rear-seat ergonomics.
We expect Hyundai to offer a larger infotainment display and instrument cluster that are likely to gain a new user interface and a Hyundai’s new four-dot logo on the steering wheel. Hyundai is also likely to enhance its safety package to keep pace with intensifying competition and rising expectations within the segment.
At the time of launch, Hyundai is expected to offer the same set of engine and transmission options as the current-gen Creta. These include a 114 bhp 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 158 bhp 1.5-litre turbo petrol unit and a 115 bhp 1.5-litre diesel. Transmission choices include a 6-speed manual and iVT for the NA petrol, a 7-speed DCT with the turbo petrol and a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic with the diesel.

However, the bigger highlight is expected to be a new strong hybrid powertrain that is expected to be added at a later stage. This new powertrain is currently under development, hence, its details are under wraps.
