Kawasaki has introduced the 2027 KLX230 dual-sport motorcycle in India at ₹2.19 lakh, marking a ₹35,000 hike over its predecessor.
Kawasaki has officially launched the model year 2027 iteration of its popular dual-sport motorcycle, the KLX230, in the Indian market. The updated dual-purpose machine arrives with an ex-showroom price tag of ₹2.19 lakh. This represents a price increase of ₹35,000 over the premium commanded by the outgoing version.
For the 2027 model year, the dual-sport motorcycle is being organised into three distinct variants: the standard KLX230, the lower-slung KLX230 S, and the off-road-centric KLX230R S.
The newly introduced 'S' variant has been specifically engineered to appeal to shorter riders by lowering the seat height by a significant 50 mm. This reduction drops the saddle height from the standard 880 mm down to a much more accessible 830 mm. To achieve this lowered stance, Kawasaki engineers reduced the usable suspension travel on the 'S' variant, scaling it back from 220 mm to 160 mm at the front, and from 223 mm to 163 mm at the rear. Consequently, the minimum ground clearance on this accessible trim has also decreased from 255 mm to 220 mm.

Conversely, the KLX230R S stands out as the most hardcore, off-road-biased variant among the trio. It boasts a tall saddle height set at a commanding 900 mm and sits high off the terrain with an impressive minimum ground clearance of 270 mm, making it better suited for navigating demanding dirt tracks and rough trail obstacles.
Mechanically, the motorcycle retains its reliable, lightweight powerplant. The entire range continues to be driven by the proven 233 cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected, air-cooled engine. This dependable single-cylinder unit generates a maximum power output of 18.7 bhp at 7,800 rpm, alongside a peak torque rating of 19 Nm pulsing in at 6,200 rpm. The engine's powerband remains managed by a slick-shifting six-speed gearbox, ensuring a balanced spread of torque for both tight trail technicalities and open-road cruising.
