The company plans to sell 1 lakh cars annually by 2026
Skoda Auto India has not had a great year when it comes to 2024. The company’s sales dived over 23 per cent and that’s also because there was no new car in the company’s line-up. There were special editions yes, but that didn’t do enough to drive sales. The company announced that it had produced 32,800 vehicles in 2024 from both the plants. There is no bifurcation provided about how many Kushaqs and Slavias were produced though.
The company is the export hub for markets like ASEAN, the Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand and growth has been steady. However, with the launch of the Kylaq, Skoda Auto India, enters a very competitive segment and assures itself sales numbers. The company’s dream of achieving an annual sales target of 1 lakh cars rests now also on the shoulders of the Kylaq.
AckoDrive recently interacted with Petr Janeba, Brand Director, Skoda India, who explained, “The production of the Kylaq started last year and we are actually now ramping up production, so in January we’ll be producing 1,500 then we go over 4000 in February and we get over 7000 in March, so with the current level of bookings what we have promised to customers is two months of waiting time. But this is always the case with a new car as it always get this attention. The thing is we need to sustain it because this car is actually coming into the very crowded (subcompact SUV) segment but it still is the biggest segment on the market
While the company has produced only 32,800 vehicles in India in 2024 from both the plants, that number is likely to go up by a huge margin in 2025. Skoda is expecting a massive surge and also plans to sustain it.
