Acer and Indkal Announce Partnership for Indian Smartphone Market Re-entry.
After being absent for several years, Acer is making a comeback in the Indian smartphone market through a brand licensing agreement with Bengaluru-based Indkal Technologies. Under the deal, Indkal will design, manufacture and distribute smartphones carrying the Acer brand name in India. The first devices are expected to hit shelves in mid-2024.
The company plans to offer competitive specifications, cutting-edge hardware, and advanced software features across multiple models priced between Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 50,000. In line with the government's Make in India initiative, all Acer smartphones will be designed and manufactured in India.
Indkal hopes that Acer's established brand recognition and high-quality devices will allow it to swiftly gain ground and corner a major share in the Indian smartphone market, currently dominated by Chinese players like Samsung, Xiaomi, and Vivo.
It remains to be seen if quality Acer phones can break the dominance of Chinese giants on Indian soil.
Anand Dubey, CEO of Indkal Technologies, said, "Acer smartphones are something we have been working on for a couple of years and we are ecstatic to finally announce the foray. With Acer smartphones, we are certain that Indian consumers are in for a treat."
