Apple's rumoured October launch is expected to showcase the debut of Macs powered by M3 chips.
As Apple gears up to launch the iPhone 15 lineup in September alongside the latest iteration of Apple Watches, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg believes it could be followed by the launch of the new iMacs in October. Apple recently unveiled the new 15-inch MacBook Air and the new Macs powered by the M2 Ultra silicon. However, the October launch is expected to showcase the debut of Macs powered by the highly anticipated M3 chips.
“October is too early for new high-end MacBook Pros or desktops, so the first beneficiaries of the new chip should be the next iMac, 13-inch MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro,” writes Gurman in his Power On newsletter.
The timing seems ripe for the launch of the new iMac, especially since Apple released the revamped and colourful iMacs in 2021. Rumours are also rife for the debut of a larger 32-inch iMacs, but Gurman says that those won’t be launched until late 2024.
For now, it seems we will be getting M3-equipped iMacs with some added upgrades here and there. The wait may be a little longer for those hoping for an upgraded iPad. While the new iPad Pro models with M3 silicone and OLED screens will likely launch next year, Apple could be working on the iPad Air with bumped-up specs across the board.
The debut of the M3 silicon is expected to further enhance the performance and efficiency of the Mac lineup, but as always, Apple has remained tight-lipped about its upcoming release.
As September and October draw nearer, Apple is slated to have one of the busiest few months going into the fall, starting with the iPhone launch in September.
