The new AirPods 4 With Active Noise Cancellation brings ANC to a new low price point in Apple's lineup.
Apple has introduced its latest AirPods lineup, featuring significant improvements and new health-focused features. The announcement was made at the company's "It's Glowtime" event on Monday, where Apple unveiled the Watch Series 10, iPhone 16 lineup, and more.
The new AirPods 4 comes in two variants: a standard version, and one with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Both models incorporate the new H2 chip and promise an improved acoustic signature for better sound quality. The AirPods 4 with ANC also gets personalised spatial audio, adaptive audio, and conversational awareness.
A notable addition to the non-pro AirPods is the inclusion of ANC and transparency mode, previously exclusive to higher-end models. The earbuds also leverage machine learning for gesture control, allowing users to nod to accept calls or shake their heads to decline.
The charging case for AirPods 4 has been redesigned to be 10 percent smaller while still offering up to 30 hours of battery life. It now supports USB Type-C, and the variant with ANC features wireless charging.
The two new AirPods 4 variants replace the AirPods 2 and AirPods 3, at similar price points.
In a significant move towards hearing health, Apple is introducing new features for AirPods Pro 2. These include a clinical-grade Hearing Aid feature, a scientifically validated Hearing Test, and active loud sound reduction. These features will be available in over 100 countries later this year.
Apple has also updated the AirPods Max, its over-ear headphones. It now com in new colours - Midnight, Starlight, Blue, Purple, and Orange - and features USB Type-C charging.
The AirPods 4 costs Rs 12,900 in India, while the ANC version costs Rs 17,900. The AirPods Max with USB-C charging costs Rs 59,900. Pre-orders for the new AirPods lineup are now open, and all models will be available in stores starting September 20.
