Aprilia prepares for Indian launch of this middle-weight Adventure Motorcycle
Aprilia India has officially announced the launch of Tuareg 660 middle-weight adventure motorcycle. The company has revealed prices and features of their upcoming Tuareg 660 ahead of its official launch on April 16th.
Starting at ₹ 18.85 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Tuareg 660 Black and Sand variants, the Dakar Podium demands a slight premium at ₹ 19.16 lakh. The ADV motorcycle will be available in three colour options: Atreides Black, Canyon Sand, and the adventurous-sounding Evocative Dakar Podium.
This pricing places the Tuareg 660 at the top end of the middle-weight adventure motorcycle segment in India. Competitors like the Suzuki V-Strom 800DE at ₹10.30 lakh (ex-showroom) and the Honda XL750 Transalp at ₹11 lakh (ex-showroom) come in at a lower price point. However, the Tuareg 660 also competes with options like the Triumph Tiger 900 and the BMW F 850 GS, offering riders a feature-packed alternative.
Following the function-focused philosophy of Aprilia, the Tuareg 660's design isn't just about aesthetics - it's built to conquer any adventure. The tall and slim build promises nimbleness on tight trails, while the twin triangle-shaped LED headlights and wide fuel tank give it a purposeful and aggressive stance.
The long-travel suspension with USD fork and a monoshock ensure ground clearance for tackling obstacles, and the spoke wheels wrapped in knobby tyres point towards its off-road prowess. Overall, the Aprilia Tuareg 660 presents a design that's both rugged and functional, prepared to take riders wherever their sense of exploration leads.
With the premium price tag, the Aprilia Tuareg 660 has an impressive list of features. Powering the motorcycle is a 659 cc parallel-twin engine tuned specifically for adventure riding. Delivering 80 bhp and 70 Nm, the engine prioritises low and mid-range power for tackling tough terrain. A 6-speed gearbox with an optional quickshifter ensures smooth gear changes.
Riders will find a suite of electronic aids to enhance control and confidence on any adventure. Four ride modes, including two customisable options, allow riders to tailor the motorcycle's performance to the conditions. Switchable ABS with the option to deactivate for both wheels or just the rear provides added control off-road. We are unsure if this would be allowed on the Indian variant. Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC) rounds out the electronic features, offering traction control, cruise control, engine maps, and engine braking control, all accessible through a clear and concise 5-inch TFT display.
Dealers anticipate a waiting period of approximately three months for deliveries after booking. With its robust build, advanced features, and exciting performance, the Aprilia Tuareg 660 is a compelling option for Indian riders seeking an adventure motorcycle that can handle anything they throw at it.
