The Army Service Corps (ASC) Motorcycle Display Team, known as the Tornadoes, made history on Tuesday by setting three remarkable world records during its 264th ASC Day celebrations.
Subedar Pradeep SS achieved the most extraordinary feat by riding a Royal Enfield motorcycle backwards for an incredible 361.56 kilometres. Starting at 6:30 am, he completed the record-breaking journey after 10 gruelling hours, demonstrating exceptional skill and endurance.
Havildar Manish broke the world record for the longest basic hands-free wheelie, travelling an impressive 2.349 kilometres. The motorcyclist revealed he had been planning and practising for this moment for six months, dedicating three to four hours per day to perfect his technique.
Sepoy Sumit Tomar added to the team's achievements by setting a new world record for the longest no-hands wheelie, covering 1,715.4 meters. This performance surpassed the previous record of 918.24 meters held by Swedish rider Elliot Gronadhil.
The Ministry of Defence confirmed that all record attempts were conducted following official Guinness World Records guidelines. Each rider emphasised the importance of extensive preparation and safety measures.
Sepoy Tomar shared his philosophy behind such challenging stunts, stating, "We cannot showcase our talent if we feel tense and show pressure. I encourage people to do these kinds of stunts with all safety measures."
The Tornadoes' remarkable achievements highlight the exceptional skill, dedication, and precision of the Army Service Corps motorcycle team. Their record-breaking performances not only showcase individual talents but also demonstrate the high level of training and expertise within the Indian Army.
These world records serve as a testament to the team's extraordinary capabilities and provide an inspiring display of motorcycling prowess on this special day.
