The new 450S is the most affordable electric scooter in Ather’s portfolio.
Ather expanded its product portfolio by launching the new Ather 450S and the Ather 450X 2.9 kWh battery variant. The Ather 450S is the most affordable scooter in its line-up and prices start at Rs 1.30 lakh (ex-showroom). The major difference between the new variants and the 450X is the smaller battery pack and motor output. The Ather 450S has a top speed of 90 kmph but 0-40 kmph acceleration time is slower at 3.9 sec compared to 3.3 sec. The smaller 2.9 kWh battery pack results in a reduced IDC range of 115 km as opposed to 145 km on the X variant. The major difference between the 450S and the 450X 2.9 kWh battery variant is the performance, instrument console and the charging time.
Talking about which, the charging time of the Ather 450S is quite high as it takes 8 hrs and 36 mins to charge from 0-100% and 6 hrs and 36 mins for 0-80%. This means the Ather 450S has among the longest charging times for a premium electric scooter on sale. To keep costs under check, the 450S gets a new LCD display that isn’t touch compatible. But, the new Ather scooters get switch cubes to run through the various menus.
The display resolution too is lower and so is the processor. However the layout of the console is clean and you also get a bunch of features if you opt for the Pro pack that includes turn-by-turn navigation, call and music control, store key documents and various themes. The 450S also gets a new regeneration system that differs based on the riding mode and there is also a dedicated button for reversing the scooter. The key highlights of the Pro pack are below.

In terms of underpinning and visuals, the Ather 450S is similar to the 450X. So you get the same trellis frame, suspension and disc brakes, and there’s no ABS. Deliveries for the 450S will commence by the end of this month and it will rival the recently launched Ola S1 Air. Following are the ex-showroom prices (inclusive of Fame II and State subsidy) for the new Ather 450 scooter range:
