The Ather Rizta will be the brand’s first electric scooter designed to exclusively cater to the ‘Big Indian’ family.
One of the most reliable electric two-wheeler manufacturers in the country, Ather Energy, is all set to unveil its second brand-new product. Called the Rizta, it has been developed exclusively to cater to the ‘Big Indian Family.’ It is slated for debut at the upcoming Ather Community Day event that will take place in Bengaluru on April 6.
Being a family scooter, Ather had to take into consideration several aspects while designing the Rizta. Being practical was one of the core prerequisites, along with looking family-friendly as well. So, gone will be the aggressive designs with deep cuts and sharp angles that we have fondly associated with the brand via the Ather 450X scooters. Instead, the Ather Rizta will boast a very simplistic design complicit with round edges, a longer and wider flat footboard, and a very spacious under seat storage space.
Test mules of the Ather Rizta were spotted several times which gave us a fair idea how the scooter would look like. Additionally, the marque also had several tongue-in-cheek advertorials which revealed crucial information about the bike. Below we have listed the same:
One of the biggest USPs of the Ather Rizta is its single-seat design, which is slated to be the longest and widest ever seen on an Indian scooter. The brand has been very bullish about this since day one. For that purpose, they even released images of the Rizta’s seat comparing it with that of the Ola S1 Pro and Honda Activa. Additionally, it also roped in famous personalities like the ‘The Great Khali’ and comedian Anubhav Singh Bassi to convey the same message. Ather also put up hoardings of the Rizta’s seat in strategic locations, proclaiming the size of the seat to be ‘XXXXL’.
Ather Energy is also confident with the durability of the Rizta, and to prove that the brand showcased the scooter being ridden through a canal filled with water. The fact that the Rizta crossed the canal without even stopping spoke volumes about the build quality of the scooter.
The Ather Rizta will be powered by the same battery pack also available with the Ather 450X. To prove how safe and strong the Rizta’s battery will continue to be, as has been the case with the 450 scooters - it even conducted a ‘battery fall test’ showcasing how strong and rigid the battery case is. Security has been one of the biggest concerns with electric two-wheelers in India, and showcasing this experiment in the form of an ad was a bold move. We laude Ather for putting to rest all doubts, that might (not) arise in the future.
With a large seat, Ather is also poised to set the standard for underseat storage space with the Rizta. While the exact specific dimension of the storage space has not been revealed as of yet, that it won’t be compromised is something confirmed for sure.
On the sidelines of the Ather Rizta launch, the marque will also introduce several new updates to its existing Ather 450X range of scooters. The Atherstack 6 software will also be updated, and Ather Energy is claiming that it will be its biggest as of yet. The update is expected to introduce new features like “messaging on the dash”, and a new smartphone design app that can integrate with various scooter functionalities.
But most importantly, Ather Energy is also expected to launch a new series of smart helmets. Teased with the name HALO, the brand has remained quite tight-lipped about what exactly this is supposed to be, either way, we are excited about the final product reveal.
To know more about the Ather Rizta and for all the latest updates from the Ather Community Day event on April 6, keep an eye on this space.
