Designed around maximum efficiency, the A2 e-tron is a rear-wheel-drive hatchback that features an aerodynamic 0.24 drag coefficient and offers battery options ranging from 52.0 kWh to 84.0 kWh.
More than two decades after the original model exited production, Audi is bringing back the historic moniker in the form of the A2 e-tron. Set to launch in Europe in late 2026, the new all-electric compact hatchback focuses heavily on extreme aerodynamic efficiency, smart packaging, and long-distance driving range.
The A2 e-tron is engineered around maximum aerodynamic efficiency while maintaining a distinctive hatchback silhouette. Upfront, a prominent black-panel element houses the sensors and primary lighting units beneath slim daytime running lights, while horizontal LED taillights define the rear profile. Flush-fitting electric door handles with haptic sensors and wing-like aerodynamic profiles blend seamlessly into the side panels.

With a drag coefficient of 0.24, the A2 e-tron stands as the most aerodynamically efficient compact model in Audi's portfolio. This low-drag figure is achieved via a nearly fully enclosed underbody, active front air intakes, turbulence-reducing wheel arches, tire-to-body gap minimisers, and specially optimised aero wheels ranging from 18 to 20 inches wrapped in 225 mm or 235 mm tires.
Inside, the cabin uses Audi's ‘Softwrap’ design theme, featuring soft fabric surfaces extending across the dashboard, door cards, and rear seating area to maximise the feeling of space. Moving the gear selector to the steering column frees up extra room in the centre console. The driver operates an 11.9-inch Virtual Cockpit Plus display alongside a 12.8-inch curved MMI touchscreen running AI assistant integration, an e-tron route planner, and connected services.

The rear-wheel-drive A2 e-tron relies exclusively on permanent-magnet synchronous electric motors across four power outputs. The base model is powered by a 168 bhp motor paired with a 52.0 kWh LFP battery. It achieves 0 to 100 km/h in 8.8 seconds, a top speed of 159 km/h (99 mph), and a claimed WLTP range of up to 423 km.

The range-topping version is powered by a 322 bhp motor paired with the 84.0 kWh NMC battery. It covers 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, reaches an increased top speed of 200 km/h and offers a WLTP range of up to 629 km.
Peak DC fast charging speeds reach up to 183 kW on higher-spec variants, allowing a 10% to 80% recharge in 24 to 29 minutes depending on the battery size. The vehicle's electrical platform also supports bidirectional charging with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) capabilities.
